Cancellation Notice:

Due to school closures that have taken place as a precaution to prevent further spread of the novel coronavirus/COVID-19, our Caregiver Education Sessions from March - June 2020 have been cancelled.

During these unprecedented times, we are exploring innovative ways of providing mental health education to caregivers. Click the image to find out what we are currently offering.

Parenting Skills that Promote Positive Mental Health

This Parent Education and Reflection (P.E.A.R.) Group is a FREE parenting program for parents and caregivers who are looking to strengthen their foundational parenting skills, address parenting challenges, and support their child’s healthy social and emotional development.

In these series of workshops, parents will receive practical information, share parenting tips, practice skills, and participate in group collaboration, reflection, and support.

About the Groups:

Level I: Growing Together

Parenting Foundations for Success at Home & School

The first four sessions of the P.E.A.R. group will focus on foundational parenting strategies that encourage secure connections, healthy child development, and positive behaviour between the caregiver and the child.

Level II: Weathering Storms

Parenting Strategies for Challenging Behaviours

The last four sessions of the P.E.A.R. group will guide caregivers to address their child’s challenging behaviors by better understanding how their child’s behavior helps communicate their child’s needs, and through the use of effective problem solving strategies and discipline techniques.

Note: Foundational parenting techniques in the first four sessions (e.g. giving parental attention, supporting healthy social and emotional development, and providing consistent family routines) set the stage for effectively managing challenging behaviors. For this reason, caregivers will be required to attend Level I before registering for Level II.
