Promoting Success in Learning: Understanding and Building Executive Functioning Skills
Audience: School professionals working with elementary age students (grades K-6)
Executive function skills are mental processes that we use every day to engage in purposeful behavior such as following directions and remembering information. Deficits in executive functioning effect student’s ability to learn.
In this 2 hour course:
- Learn about the ways that executive function skills are important for success in school and in life
- Identify the warning signs of executive function difficulties
- Explore the core executive functions of inhibition, working memory, and mental flexibility and how this impacts students in the classroom
- Build strategies to support students with executive functioning difficulties
