Introduction to Mindfulness in the Classroom
Audience: All school professionals
Interest in mindfulness is growing rapidly in schools, communities, and in health-care settings as an evidence-based modality for promoting wellness in children, teens, and adults. Mindfulness helps to build a foundation in classrooms for empathy, optimism, and development of executive function skills (e.g. attention) and self-regulation skills. As an added bonus, mindfulness has been shown to enhance teacher’s job satisfaction.
In this 2.5 hour course we will:
- Learn an overview of the science behind mindfulness
- Learn how mindfulness can support teachers and how to develop a personal practice
- Build strategies on the “what, why, where, when & how” of teaching mindfulness to children and teens
- Receive practical tools and resources you can begin to use in your classrooms right away
